Toufoula’s dream rooms, design for healing souls and bodies!

By Admin N : Because we as Brofessional review team are not just smartasses who seem to criticize anything, we decided to do a post about a cause close to our heart. The idea is super! What does one do when seeing children suffering in hospital rooms? He transports them into a magical world of course! (Very peter pan-ish I know). And that’s exactly what TOUFOULA is doing with its “dream rooms” projects.

TOUFOULA is a NGO dedicated to children suffering from cancer and other blood diseases. Trying to improve their lives, they create a unique and colorful environment, a safe heaven throughout their treatment. See, design is indeed the answer to everything! Now recently, TOUFOULA launched its “dream rooms” project aiming at adding life to the dull hospital rooms with colors and designs.  It managed to recruit some of the country’s top designers from all fields and some international designers too! The rooms range from adding an object to the room like what Bernard khoury did by adding an L-shaped object fixed to the ceiling, armed with a control system that allows the child to change the color according to his mood; to making the room interact with the child like Kamal Homsi and Lina Gothme did; or just transforming the whole room into another world like many did. My favorite rooms are the one that entice imagination like the ones designed by Gina Succar, Hazim Abdo,Michelle Standjovski, Seif el Hassani and Zuhair Murad (Man, don’t we all want to be there!!)

And recently PINKO, the Italian trendy women’s wear, and the symbol of glamour, seduction and fashion, launched a limited edition Tshirt, PINKO “Love” Beirut, from which 20% of the proceeds of the sale will go to TOUFOULA. Through this valuable and caring initiative, PINKO will definitely help the NGO reach its goal, and constantly create more Dream Rooms for the children with cancer, bringing happiness and heartwarming smiles to their faces. Isn’t it refreshing when fashion houses use their assets for a good cause?

The Tshirt was launched during a cocktail party, which took place at the PINKO store in Beirut DT, on Thursday March 29th, 2012.

Let’s all contribute in this process and thumbs up to TOUFOULA for this great initiative; design to heal the soul!

To all famous designers, you can design our rooms anytime. We’re brofessionals, we rock!

Buzz “Let the good times roll”

By Admin I : After a series of TVCs under the concept of “Khalli el jaw welaan” Buzz comes back with new campaigns, also featuring the very talented Fouad Yammine, Meen’s lead singer in one of the commercials; the new campaign is indeed a better production if compared to the former one, well shot, and art directed, with a fresh feel accompanying the “more natural” sense of humor in the copywriting especially in the 70s themed commercial looking less cliche than the couple at the restaurant.

Buzz goes for a deja vu “wrong, wrong, right” but with a fun approach mainly enhanced through the natural presence of the cast and a light message reaching a wide range of audience with no underlying layers of complexity, which perfectly complements their marketing strategies since years.

Few years ago, Buzz released a series of animated spots, by the Lebanese illustrator David Habchy which came out very interesting and communicated well with an audience of youngsters, the direct consumers of energy drinks. The product relying on animation for a long period of time, used more than a visual approach, until reaching a stage of consensus with its marketing plan helping the brand build a loyal clientele and a memorable advertising identity.

Nothing should stand in the way of a good time. Buzz ready-to-drink vodka mix is here to “let the good times roll”.

Remember to always drink responsibly.

The sentence that adds the cheese crust: hypocrisy at its best! Responsible drinking decreases sales, and thats very Bretentious* of you! The “drink responsibly” icons in the end, are a total no no you guys!

“Walk of causes” talent at its best!

By Admin N : It was on the night of the bloggers meeting that we met possibly the two most awesome guys ever! We were just there minding our own business; trying to mingle with the crowd when two blonde dudes caught our attention, they had this aura around them and we knew we just had to talk to them (we were also intrigued by their looks and fashion choices, but yea whatever).

Matias and Ekvoll (like I call them) are two Norwegian actors breaking out in the Middle East, particularly the lovely city of Beirut; and they have this really cool blog where they post about pretty much everything, most interestingly, they have something they call “walk of causes”. The walk of causes is this super duper genius idea where Jorgen (ekvoll) and Matias plan on crossing our majestic land from the north to the south on foot, dedicating each daily walk for a cause. From machta hammoud they began the journey. Their first walk was dedicated to peace and health, sponsored by the UNIFIL but only half the money was used for production purposes whereas the other half was donated to the Red Cross for, and I quote: “to continue the work they do on improving the general health situation in the country.” And as they continue their journey down south, they walked for freedom of the press, for the refugees, the worried mothers, the nomads, the landmines, against discrimination, against poverty, against war, for all the homeless people, for the rights of domestic people, for all the orphans, for the recognition of the Armenian genocide, for Lebanon!

Along the way, they met interesting people, had their fair share of misfortune and raised awareness. But I think above all (and at the risk of opening a jar of blue cheese), they made us remember how stunning Lebanon is. But these guys are not all about walking, they do know how to party too (and stalk girls *cough* bloggers meeting video *cough*) and they do volunteer weekly at the Palestinian refugee camp! I believe they deserve a very high five, oh oh and some glitter too! And although Brofessional Review didn’t make it into their list of top 40 blog rankings (I don’t care if it was generated by some web system – I don’t understand how our aura of awesomeness was missed), we’d like to inform you that our heart is as big as our ego, and we’re going to let it go.

We honestly think you guys are super talented, proving that film making in specific can have highly interesting results even with the lack of professional means, Let’s grab a beer anytime soon (Oh it’s not private here, is it?!)
